Joe and I had cubicles a few feet apart from each other for years, which meant we shared lots of water cooler talk. Gossip, stories about our weekends, and talk about our growing families. I remember him talking about the classes involved to become a foster parent and the early days of home studies. Now, several years later, Joe and Kara are some of our dearest friends (and all four of us social workers!), and I was so honored that they chose me to capture this time as they adopted their sweet son after years of fostering. This sweet family of three is the perfect example of the fact that “love makes a family,” and it’s so clear that they have an abundance of love among them.

Kara told me ahead of time during our planning process how important it was to capture the in-between and authentic moments, which is exactly what I’m all about. We spent very little time during this session posing and prompting. Instead we captured the real moments of connections between two loving parents and their son.

This lifestyle family session was so beautiful, and the family even more so. I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful clients and friends (they’re one in the same to me!) who choose me to capture the beautiful chapters of their family’s life.
